  • Bioscience/agriculture
  • Biotechnology
  • Computer engineering
  • Computer-aided manufacturing
  • Materials science
  • Nano - and micro-technology

Companies who need to perform rapid prototyping or design for manufacturability can take advantage of Cal Poly resources such as the Guidant Rapid Prototyping Laboratory. In addition, Cal Poly’s Industrial Manufacturing Engineering (IME) Department has two rapid prototyping machines, and the Mechanical Engineering Department houses Cal Poly’s newest rapid prototyping machine. Several companies are currently using these machines for product design and development, and other advanced research projects.

Cal Poly’s Java Center

Companies developing Java-based applications can take advantage of the Cal Poly Java Center Projects Lab, established by a cooperative effort between Cal Poly and Sun Microsystems. In addition to supporting courses in Java programming, the lab provides support for student and faculty projects.

Cisco Network Lab

Companies conducting research in networking can leverage the Cisco Network Lab, a $1 million joint effort by Cisco Systems and Intel Corporation. Companies can use the lab for network configuration and load testing.
